ALEX WEBSTER SLAYS BASS MEAT

posted by Your Hosts on 9/19/2012 14:08 | Category: Interviews

We chatted with Alex Webster during the Denver stop of the Summer Slaughter tour, and he was quick to talk about having progy type bands on the bill which is unusual for them. Song dynamics, particularly in terms of tempo also came up, as well as the challenge of putting a set list together when you have 12 albums of material. Alex also shed some light on death metal bands that started in the late 80s. There really wasn't a precedent for what a successful death metal band was and how far they could go. And the highlight for us (and probably for any CO native) is when Alex recalled the original name of The Black Sheep in Colorado Springs.

SLAUGHTER SPEAK

posted by Your Hosts on 9/11/2012 15:55 | Category: Episodes

Apologies for the long hiatus - we certainly make up for it on this one. Bat-Matt joins us to talk about the top 10 bands that should be on the Summer Slaughter tour next year. Also on deck:

  • New releases
  • Jared's rant on promo streams
  • Thoughts on the 2012 Summer Slaughter tour including our interviews w/ Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse, Paul and Som from Cerebral Bore, and Jonny Davy from Job For A Cowboy
  • "Bound To Belong" by Leander Rising

This time with the shuffle battle, we throw down an epic ten rounds to decide the official MetalsPeak lineup for Summer Slaughter 2013! Well, nine rounds since Daigle failed to correctly explain the rules around overlapped picks. Cattle FTW! So here they are in no particular order:

Abominable Putridity
Fallujah
Cattle Decapitation
Trigger The Bloodshed
Be’Lakor
Antropofagus
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
Neuraxis
Gojira
Meshuggah

Sick lineup, no? We're game!

Plus, Daigle literally loses the ability to understand the "tie-breaker" concept in the blink of an eye. One moment everything's fine; the next he's exhibiting the intelligence of a 30 year old moldy rotted piece of haggis. Still no explanation as to why.

And speaking of haggis, Jared coined a term/phrase/future song title that is sure to end up in the annals of the most brilliant combinations of two words ever. We call dibs on copyright.

And if that's not enough, there are moments of clapping awesomeness and hilarious bonus out takes from our interview w/ Cerebral Bore to close the episode.

We scored some time on the Cannibal bus to chat with Paul Mazurkiewicz about the Torture tour and recording process, what keeps Cannibal Corpse going, and non-metal favorites including a surprising guilty pleasure. Paul also gave some insight into their album covers over the years and what his views are on the current and future states of metal.

We're slowly getting back to normality... Alloy Matt is back for our lists of top 10 blasphemous songs. Yeah it's an obvious topic - we had to get it out of the way though, right?!?! Guest host Bat-Matt also joins as we:

  • go through upcoming releases
  • give some thoughts on "Piss" from Pantera (be sure to buy that up to help Rex with his half a million in back taxes)
  • get Jared's thoughts on the Behemoth/Watain show
  • give some higlights of our Cannibal Corpse and Exhumed interviews (to be posted later)
  • go over the Cannibal Corpse/Exhumed/Abysmal Dawn/Arkaik show

We also check out “Becoming the Beast” by Commotio Cordis and “Devil’s Night” by Fierce Allegiance

This one's a fuckin' riot! Matt and Cody were missing though... please report any sightings to www.nobodycaresaboutthosefuckersanyway.lol

Jared goes over some new releases and we talk about upcoming shows including the 4/20 Cannibal Corpse show at The Black Sheep. By the way if Cannibal ain't your cup of tea, you should go to We Are All Destined To Fail's CD release show at Union Station instead.

And then we embark on what's probably been the most fun we've had since starting this podcast: Top 10 songs that could have been playing during the rhino birth scene in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. Do yourself a favor and watch this clip during the shuffle battle - it's the most fun you'll have all day.

We also spin "Throatless Sirens” by Beyond Terror Beyond Grace and “Odyssey” by Intandem
