SLAUGHTER SPEAK

posted by Your Hosts on 9/11/2012 15:55 | Category: Episodes

Apologies for the long hiatus - we certainly make up for it on this one. Bat-Matt joins us to talk about the top 10 bands that should be on the Summer Slaughter tour next year. Also on deck:

  • New releases
  • Jared's rant on promo streams
  • Thoughts on the 2012 Summer Slaughter tour including our interviews w/ Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse, Paul and Som from Cerebral Bore, and Jonny Davy from Job For A Cowboy
  • "Bound To Belong" by Leander Rising

This time with the shuffle battle, we throw down an epic ten rounds to decide the official MetalsPeak lineup for Summer Slaughter 2013! Well, nine rounds since Daigle failed to correctly explain the rules around overlapped picks. Cattle FTW! So here they are in no particular order:

Abominable Putridity
Fallujah
Cattle Decapitation
Trigger The Bloodshed
Be’Lakor
Antropofagus
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
Neuraxis
Gojira
Meshuggah

Sick lineup, no? We're game!

Plus, Daigle literally loses the ability to understand the "tie-breaker" concept in the blink of an eye. One moment everything's fine; the next he's exhibiting the intelligence of a 30 year old moldy rotted piece of haggis. Still no explanation as to why.

And speaking of haggis, Jared coined a term/phrase/future song title that is sure to end up in the annals of the most brilliant combinations of two words ever. We call dibs on copyright.

And if that's not enough, there are moments of clapping awesomeness and hilarious bonus out takes from our interview w/ Cerebral Bore to close the episode.

GET BEATEN SPEAK

posted by Your Hosts on 3/5/2012 23:56 | Category: Episodes

We're back with another top 10 list - this one even more entertaining than the last! Before we get to that we run through:

  • New releases
  • Goatwhore show debacle
  • New segment: Rant with Jared
  • “Modern Transfigurement” by A Dead Silence

And then the Top 10 songs we'd want to get beaten up to. You really don't want to miss this, we're really raising the bar on the creativity level for these. Plus Jared makes what could be the most selfless sacrifice regarding a band that will hopefully never be named on the show again - all for the benefit of you, the listener.

We wrap with the always enjoyable Shuffle Battle and "Foul Is The Stench" from the Tree of Woe demo.

MAYHEM SPEAK

posted by Your Hosts on 8/2/2011 0:25 | Category: Episodes

The latest episode of MetalsPeak is now available! Join us as we listen to Jared's thoughts on the Rockstar Mayhem fest, as well as hear his interviews with Straight Line Stitch and Unearth. If you listened to the last episode, you'll remember that an unfortunate microphone debacle resulted in Jared's In Flames and All Shall Perish interviews being lost to the ether. Luckily for us, Jared's wise insight and sharp recall provided for an accurate retelling of said interviews - you won't even realize it's only Jared talking!

Also on the show we:

  • Examine why the Goatwhore, Exhumed, Cephalic Carnage, and Havok tour is not stopping through CO
  • Review All Shall Perish's masterpiece "This is Where it Ends"
  • See who's sending us metal - this time it's Crypt Infection
  • Continue the search for the elusive Kelly Clarkson on Jared's iPod
  • Mention a couple Try Redemption shows coming up with the likes of Exussum, Catheter and The Contortionist
  • Get some late breaking news from Beyond Terror Beyond Grace

All this and more! Listen now or check/refresh your Zune or iTunes feeds.

BEN FALGOUST OF GOATWHORE AT THE MARQUIS THEATER

posted by Daigle on 12/11/2010 22:14 | Category: Interviews

We originally intended to attend the Goatwhore/Watain/Black Anvil show in Denver at the beginning of November, but familial obligations prevented us from making it. Luckily, we had a backup plan in form of Jerelyn! Not only is she our sister in metal, Jerelyn is possibly Goatwhore's biggest fan. So who better to conduct an interview with the one and only Ben Falgoust? After a quick ceremony inaugurating her as official field correspondent for MetalsPeak, she was on her way and was able to chat with Ben after the show, about all things metal. We think she did a great job for having the job sprung on her at the last minute. But take a listen and decide for yourself!

Behold the latest episode of MetalsPeak! This time we're joined by field correspondent Jerelyn who was able to snag an interview with Goatwhore during their recent tour through Denver with Watain and Black Anvil. We think she did an outstanding job, but take a listen for yourself and let us know what you think. You'll also hear:

  • Jerelyn's take on the Goathwhore show, including her reaction to Watain's infamous goatheads (you really want to hear about this if you're not in the know)
  • Jared's review of the Crimson Armada/Bury Tomorrow/Miss May I show as well as his interview with Jared and Levi from Miss May I
  • A Riff Dissection of 4 of the sickest riffs from Diskreet's "Engage the Mechanicality"
  • Daigle's Top 10 Riffs of 2010
  • Jared's Top 25 Albums of 2010
  • The return of the "Who's Idea Was This?" segment featuring (hed) p.e.'s latest release...

We agreed this was the most fun we've had with an episode thus far. So if you haven't made a point to listen yet, now's the perfect time to start! Listen now or subscribe via Zune.

Enjoy!
